Eagle Scout project
StoryPoint is an assisted living facility. My connection there is through Robotics - I was the team's former outreach lead, and every Sunday we helped residents with technical issues. It's a strange thing to see how challenging some of that is for the residents and how simple it is for us. StoryPoint had a huge storage area that was an absolute mess: cheap plastic shelves, worn down, badly cluttered. I decided to redo their shelving completely. I got a layout of the room and designed a shelf system in CAD: Shelf CAD, Onshape.
Iterations: Changes to the design were made on paper rather than in CAD: switching the legs to 3x3s, replacing the notch-based fastening with simple screw-in fasteners, changing the shape of the crossbars, and splitting the original 12-foot shelf into two shelves fastened together.
